چکیده

Municipal green waste (MGW) has significantly increased with the development of urban areas, and its utilization by composting is a good alternative to solve problem. This paper presents results from quality assessment two industrial composts (from facility regional nonhazardous landfill) based on their physicochemical properties, hygienic safety (microbiological parameters), fertilizing potential (by index, FI) heavy metal polluting clean CI). Compost 1 (C1) was made MGW (100%) 2 (C2) (75%) discarded peppers (25%). The evaluation parameters conducted according Bulgarian Standards (BDS) methods microbiological analysis using selective, chromogenic detection systems. It found that EC, P, K, Mg, Cu, Cr Ni were lower for C1 (p < 0.05–0.001). On other hand, Pb concentration higher compared C2 0.001); concentrations Cd, Hg E. coli very low both composts; presence Salmonella not detected. estimated indexes (FI CI) classified as Class B compost (very-good-quality medium potential) A (best-quality high soil fertility content). meet requirements EU legislation can be used fertilizers.

Assessment of municipal waste compost as a daily cover material for odour control at landfill sites.

The ability of municipal waste compost as a daily cover material to reduce the odorous emissions associated with landfill surfaces was investigated. Trials were carried out using landfill gas, a certified sulphurous gas mix and ambient air as a control. Odorous gas was passed through portable test column filled with compost at different densities (590 kg/m3 and 740 kg/m3). Gas samples were take...
